Biography
Dr. Can Ince is a physiologist who heads the Department of Translational Physiology at the Academic Medical Centre (AMC) of the University of Amsterdam (since 2002). He is a part-time staff member (40%) at the Department of Intensive Care, Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam (head Prof Jan Bakker) (since 2007). He was Professor of Experimental Anaesthesiology and Cell Physiology at the AMC (from 1993 to 2002). He had worked at the Dept. of Infectious Diseases for some ten years on immunological research. He has a PhD degree in Immunology/Cell Physiology and degrees in electrical and electronic engineering (BSc University of Birmingham (UK), MSc Information Theory Technical University of Delft (NL). He is past-president of the Dutch Physiological Society, former chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Netherlands and past-president of the International Society of Oxygen Transport to Tissue. He is on the editorial boards of several journals and has authored close to 300 scientific peer reviewed papers.

Microcirculation research related to oxygenation, Perfusion and inflammation of organs in intensive care, Cardiothoracic surgery and Anaesthesiology, Fluid resuscitation, Blood transfusion and Inflammatory modulation.
